This restaurant is a gem, especially for weekend brunch. As a local permanent makeup artist with a studio downtown this is my favourite place to grab a full slow-food breakfast before my first client arrives. The table settings are luxury class with white linens and proper settings. The variety and quality of food is excellent. I imagine that travellers staying in the hotel would have an excellent experience. Having tried other hotel restaurants in the downtown core I can say that the Carleton Grill is competing very well.
Some of the words used here deliberately paraphrase the self description done by Sheraton: we do this on purpose, to underscore how true their choice of words is. As a couple, we keep going back because it is "memorable" every time. Today was a special event buffet with full assortment of " fabulous food" and affordable wine. Chef Filliodeau and his team set up an exciting and "mouthwatering" endless course menu that pleased "all palates" in sight. My partner who has lethal allergies was also served a homemade on the spot haute-cuisine piece of seafood lavishly garnished. And the price tag more than meets competition. If you have a special occasion, forget the "Grill" denomination as it doesn't reveal the world class presentation of foods which is prepared here with such savoir-faire, attention and dietary balance.
We went for the breakfast buffet. Standard offerings, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. Great coffee and juice.
